This study reviews developments and issues in the exchange arrangements and currency convertibility of IMF members. Completed in 1997, the report outlines the developments on the basis of information available at that time. The principle information source is the Annual Report on Exchange Arrangements and Exchange Restrictions (AREAER) prepared in consultation with national authorities.
