Description
This work presents a realistic picture of the conditions under which entrepreneurship is developing in Central-East Europe. It gives deep insight into new patterns of entrepreneurial behaviour emerging in the industry and the service sector of these countries. The folowing issues are treated in detail: the legal, institutional and trade-political framework for entrepreneurship which had been established in Central-East European countries up to now; the characteristics of individual types of enterprises and new attitudes and behavioural patterns applied by them recently; development concepts elaborated by enterprises embarking on privatization and entrepreneurial strategies applied by domestic and foreign entrepreneurs in different industrial branches and types of activities; an overview of all the stake-holders involved in the choice of a foreign investor is given together with a description of interests each of them is pursuing; untraditional methods of evaluating the economic and technological potential of individual enterprises as presented and explained; an outline of various entrepreneurial risks which investors will have to face in these countries is given together with an overview of a variety of risk-reducing measures which have proved to be effective here. Practical experiences with the application of these measures and with various development concepts applied by domestic, as well as foreign companies are described on the basis of numerous case studies undertaken in the framework of this project.
