With the significant increase in the use of advanced composite materials in a range of industries and a proliferation of the categories of materials, there is a need for a systematic compilation of their properties and suppliers. This is a worldwide directory of commercially available advanced composite materials. The directory tabulates the properties of fibre tows, yarns, fabrics, braids, mats, papers, felts, resin-impregnated tapes and fabrics, and reinforced thermoplastic moulding granules made from carbon (graphite) PAN; pitch and rayon precursors; oxidised PAN; aramid; boron and ceramic (alumina, silica, silicon carbide); high performance glasses and quartz; high performance polymers and metals including mixtures of these fibres. These product tables are indexed by the name of the manufacturer in each section and numbered for easy cross-referencing. In addition, where appropriate, the individual product grades are classified and ranked so that they can be compared. For example, carbon tows are classified by fibre type and ranked by filaments/tow; tex; module; elongation; specific modules and specific strength. For the sixth edition of this work, all the data have been updated and information on new materials has been added. This book should be of interest to professionals concerned with the composites industries including aerospace, automobile, sports equipment manufacturers, as well as academic researchers in materials science, chemistry and production and mechanical engineering departments.
