It remains a vivid and vigorous narrative and the most detailed contemporary version of the events surrounding the Eureka rebellion. The original, and rare, 1855 edition is faithfully reproduced in this edition which includes five letters from Carboni to his friend W.H. Archer, the Registrar-General of the colony, in an appendix.
